Where four highways meet
Highway 1 comes in from the coast and heads north up the Fraser Canyon. The Coquihalla heads north to Merritt and Kamloops. The Crowsnest heads east to Princeton. And Highway 7 runs west along the north side of the Fraser. They all meet in Hope.
That makes Hope a different kind of local market. Yes, there are the people who live in town, out at Kawkawa Lake, in Silver Creek and up toward Sunshine Valley. But there’s also a steady stream of drivers who stop for fuel, food, a tire, a tow or a room for the night.
None of those drivers know the town. They pull out their phone and search “tire shop near me” or “towing Hope BC” and pick from whatever Google shows them.
Small market, big opportunity
Hope is a small town. That cuts both ways.
The good part: there aren’t many businesses competing for each map result. A properly built Google Business Profile, a solid stack of reviews and a website that clearly says “Hope” can put you in the top 3 faster than in almost any bigger market.
The catch: if you don’t do it, someone else will. A competitor in Chilliwack with a strong profile and a service area that includes Hope can end up taking the calls that should be yours.
Who I work with in Hope
Towing, auto repair, tire shops and mobile mechanics.
Restaurants, cafes, motels and campgrounds.
Outdoor and tourism businesses near the Othello Tunnels, Kawkawa Lake and the Coquihalla.
Trades: plumbing, electrical, roofing, heating, renovation.
Property maintenance, snow removal and tree service.
Local shops and professional services.
What I do for Hope businesses
Your Google Business Profile
For travellers, your profile is often the only thing they see before they decide. Accurate hours (including holiday hours), a full list of services, real photos of your business from the road, and a description that tells people exactly what you do. That’s Google Business Profile optimization.
Your reviews
Travellers lean hard on reviews because they’ve got nothing else to go on. Even a few dozen recent, real reviews can make you the obvious pick. I set up a simple review system so every customer gets asked, every time.
Your listings
Drivers don’t only use Google. Plenty use Apple Maps, the map built into their car, or Yelp. Your name, address, phone and hours need to be right on all of them. That’s local citation building.
Then your website gets “Hope” where it counts: the title, the H1, the footer, the schema.
Hours are everything for highway traffic
One thing matters more in Hope than almost anywhere else: hours. A driver coming off the Coquihalla at 7 p.m. on a long weekend will skip any business Google says might be closed.
So I make sure your regular hours, holiday hours and special hours are always right, and that they match on Google, Apple Maps and everywhere else your listing shows up. It’s a small thing that costs real money when it’s wrong.
Get the local details right
The small details that make Google, and drivers, trust a Hope business:
“Hope, BC” written exactly the same way on your profile, website and every listing.
A service area that covers where you really go: town, Kawkawa Lake, Silver Creek, Sunshine Valley, and up the canyon if you serve it.
Photos that show your business from the road, so a driver recognizes your sign when they pull off the highway.
A complete services list. A traveller searching “tire repair” needs to see that you do tire repair, not just “auto service”.
A listing with the Hope chamber of commerce and the travel directories visitors use.
What Hope customers search for, season by season
Hope’s seasons hit hard. Winter brings heavy snow, and when the Coquihalla or the Crowsnest closes, travellers end up stuck in town looking for food, rooms, towing and repairs. Locals need snow removal, furnace repairs and frozen-pipe fixes. Spring and summer bring the tourists: campgrounds, restaurants, outdoor gear and guided trips. Fall is the shoulder season, when locals finally get to the renovations and repairs they put off all summer.
Your posts and photos follow that calendar, and your hours stay accurate through every road closure and holiday weekend.

Working with me
I’m based in the Fraser Valley, and Hope is close to home for me. Most of the work happens on your profile, website and listings, and we stay in touch by phone and email.
I also work down the valley in Agassiz and Chilliwack.
Questions Hope business owners ask
Most of my customers are passing through. Is local SEO still worth it?
That’s exactly when it’s worth it. Locals might already know you. Travellers only know what Google shows them.
Can I show up for people searching from the highway before they reach town?
Google weighs where the person is searching from, so drivers approaching Hope start seeing Hope businesses as they get closer. A strong profile with accurate hours and good reviews makes sure you’re one of them.
Do I need a website?
It helps a lot. Google uses your website to confirm what your profile says. A simple site with the right title, heading and contact details does the job. You don’t need anything fancy.
My business is seasonal. What happens in the off-season?
We keep the profile active with posts and accurate hours, so you don’t drop off the map. Then we ramp up photos and posts ahead of your busy season.
Can a Chilliwack company outrank me in Hope?
It can happen, especially if their profile is much stronger than yours. Being closer to the searcher is your advantage. Use it with a complete profile and steady reviews.
What do I need to do?
Give me access to your profile and website, send photos every week, and ask every customer for a review before they leave.
What does it cost?
It depends on your type of business and how much groundwork your profile needs. You get a flat price on the strategy call before you commit to anything.
